COURSE OUTCOMES (CO).
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to;
1. List the important historical events in the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
2. Explain the concepts of Truth and Non-violence in a scientific way.
3. Make use of different social thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi in the current social system.
4. Categories Gandhian cardinal principles with special reference to his life and achievements
5. Assess the contributions of Gandhi to the social, political, educational, economic and moral planes of society
6. Judge the Foundations of Gandhian Thought in various contexts
7. Synthesize the knowledge and experiences derived from the inclusive approach of Mahatma Gandhi
Unit 1: Life and experiments of Mahatma Gandhi:
Early life & influences – Experiments in South Africa – Gandhi & Freedom struggle – Dimensions of Gandhian Personality.
Unit II – Central Philosophy & Satyagraha:
Indian philosophical perspective – Basic Concepts – Truth & Non-Violence- Gandhiji’s view on Mortality & Religion, – Doctrine of Satyagraha.
Unit -III Social and Political ideas of Gandhiji:
Social Evils – untouchability, alcoholism – Communal harmony- political ideas of Gandhiji-Rural administration/ Panchayat Raj.
Unit -IV – Gandhiji’s views on Education, Peace and Harmony:
Basic Education – Violence & it’s forms – Gandhian understanding of Peace -Gandhian approach to Conflict resolution.
Unit V Economic and developmental ideas of Gandhi: Economic ideas of Gandhi- The Crisis of development- Gandhiji’s vision of development- Gandhiji’s views on Man and Nature.
