Lakshmi College of Education Gandhigram has the right infrastructure, culture and peer ecosystem to enable our future teachers.

Parliament

Our institution has a student council in the name of the student parliament.Student parliament are generally means to be the democratically elected representatives and their statutory bodies.College parliament provides an opportunity for students to be involved in college administration and academic decision making through a group of democratically elected ministers who represent the views of all the students at the college. The list of ministers and their duties as follows:

The Speaker

To maintain discipline in the parliament. To look after the working of all ministers.

Educational Minister

To take the attendance daily for two times. To frame a name list of the students for cleaning the classes daily.To collect the leave letters from the absentees and submitit to the office. To take care of the cleanliness in the classroom.

Cultural Minister

Organising morning assembly in the prayer, flag hosting on every Monday, cultural programme on special occasion and at the end of the month.

Mess Minister

To run the mess based on dividing system. Calculate the mess bill with Deputy warden.

Health Minister

To distribute the registered medicines to the sick students. To take care of the students  health by maintaining hygiene in the hostel.

Sports Minister

Collect the equipment’s from the department and distribute to the students. Organizing intramural competitions among the students. Yoga classes are monitored by the minister.

Hostel secretary

To take attendance in the hostel and submit it to the deputy warden. To collect leave letters and mess fees from the students. To submit the daily newspapers in the evening to the library. To take care of the environment in the hostel.

Computer Centre

The college has a well-furnished computer centre with six personal computers to impart computer skills to student teachers so that they use these skills in their teaching-learning process. The students are trained in preparing CAI packages and in using internet.

Audio-Visual Facilities

Latest audio-visual equipments such as lcd projector,paxiscope, vcd, vcr, vcp, video camera, televisions, ohp, slide projector, tape recorders and public address system are available and proper training is given to student teachers for handling these equipments.they are also trained to prepare software pertaining to these equipments.

Physical Fitness and Sports Activities

To promote the physical fitness of student teachers, they take various indoor and outdoor games and exercises such as running, jogging, skipping, weight lifting etc. There are adequate sports equipments and good playgrounds. Yoga and meditation exercises are also given. The students are encouraged to take part in regional and state level competitions.

Library

We have a collection pf 8,892 books, 326 dissertations, 7 journals, 15 magazines and 120 back volumes for use by student teachers, scholars and teachers. Xerox facility is also available. There is a book-bank facility to help the economically poor students. In addition to this main library, each department has its own library with textbooks, reference books, and a question bank.

Hands-On Workshops

The students are given training in making inexpensive audio-visual materials, toys, covers, files, interior decoration articles, and products such as ink, washing powder , cleaning powder and phenyle. Besides these, training in stitching, embroidery work, glass painting and preparing articles from waste materials is also given.

Hostel

There is a separate hostel for men and women students with adequate facilities. It is completely managed by students themselves on the advice of Warden and Deputy Warden. There is a residential housemother to look after to the needs of the women students. The mess is run on a dividing system. There are recreational facilities in the form of indoor and outdoor games and television. Every month the students give a Cultural Programme in the campus.
